I’ve created this rabbit potholder for myself. Â I’ve always loved rabbits, as wild animals and in children’s stories (Velveteen Rabbit, Alice in Wonderland), just not as pets. Â I tried to make it not too Easterish, since I plan to use it year around.
I couldn’t find the right color of yarn to go with the soft plum/mauve yarn (Lily calls this yarn color ‘Lilac’) so I took some of Lily’s ‘Off White’ yarn and experimented with tea and coffee staining.
It took extra steps of work, but I think the subtle undulating of shades of beige and light browns work well. Â It sort of adds more dimension and the cream color reminds me of old parchment paper which plays up the old folklore style of the rabbit.
Here’s a rabbit photo I collected a long time ago to maybe draw with artist pastels. Â I just love the curious expression on it’s face.
I know it’s not an Easter bunny potholder, but I could  not resist posting this one. Too Funny.
